In just a few short hours I’ll be on a plane bound for Catriona + Daniel’s wedding in Playa del Carmen!  I can’t tell how excited i am about this, but it probably doesn’t take a ton of imagination to guess.

check out these digs!!

and as if things couldn’t get any better, my fantabulous friend and fellow photog Mary Kate is joining in the celebration!  we’re going to have several fun days of shooting combined with some sight seeing.  and if i have anything to say about it a scooter ride around cozumel..

“but wait, you’re taking a vacation NOW?”.  yes and no.  it’s a working vacation. while there WILL be fruity drinks involved, MK and I are both in the same, “omygodihavesomuchworktodoinsolittletime boat” and will be working away- it’ll just be from a balcony with a slightly better view.  and  as you may, um, have noticed, i haven’t been blogging and do apologize for that.  but the good news is i’ve been cranking out the wedding editing like nobody’s business.   while i love love blogging, it can take me a good day to get a blog post out.  i’ve taken that time and dedicated it to editing- which i’ve been doing like a maniac.  i plan on getting EVERYONE’S wedding out by December 9th.. yes, even you who got married in November!  hopefully this will be a fair trade off.  I WILL get to the blog posts eventually but i’m racing to get your photos done for you to share by Christmas.  I might try to sneak in a few teasers in between margaritas… um, i mean wedding editing.

I was also going to use this opportunity to share my next adventure with everyone.  I booked my tickets to Burma this week and am planning on flying out December 10th.  however with the world in an uproar and a possible coup in bangkok brewing, the plans may be in jeopardy. i will keep you all posted.  regardless, i’m going to do my best to stick to the Dec 9th deadline.

I will have internet access in Mexico, just not sure how fast and if I’l be able to upload any events from there.  but please email me if you have any questions.  I may be able to Skype ya back even.

Happy Holidays everyone!!!!

DC Teaser-ama

Monday, October 20, 2008

i just started sifting through all the amazing shots from the past week, and whooo!  i’m so excited!   it’s going to take me a bit to digest everything, so here are a few teasers of the good stuff to come.

my wedding weekend was bookend-ed with my absolute favorite venue- the woodend!  how lucky am i that i was able to shoot there TWICE in one weekend?  i felt like a little bit of a rockstar, but I jumped in to shoot the ceremony of Kate and Mike’s gorgeous wedding with my good friend Mary Kate McKenna.  I had a meeting with my lovely couple coincidentally at the woodend right before the cermeony, and Mary Kate was already there shooting Mike and Kate’s wedding, so I got to stay and hang out and snap some fun photos.   it was really special for me too to be able to work with her again back where it all started for me as a wedding photog, even if it was for just a few hours.

On Saturday i had the priveledge of shooting the adorable Katie and Brian’s wedding in leesburg, at the stately Rose Hill Manor. It was a gorgeous day!  And hooray for the fall colors that were just starting to peek through!   I LOVE this shot.  i’m a sucker for fences and trees, and while fall hadn’t quite arrived yet, there were lovely little hints of orange and yellow.

on Sunday, it was back to the Woodend!  it was another absolutely lovely day with the super sweet Lauren and Steve.  there was lots of cute little kiddos running around too, a great band and some absoultely fabulous cake.

and last but not least.. i ran around with Jaime (THE one and only blond photographer) on one her fab engagement sessions.  i didn’t snap many photos, but it’s always interesting to me to see how other photographers work.  it was extra crazy for me because this lovely couple, Kelcy and Peter, live down street from where i used to live, so we ran through some of the alleys that i walked on a daily basis.  i just never had an eye on it for engagement photos before, so it was sort of like seeing the old stomping grounds through a different set of eyes. i had that mixed feeling again of excitement and a bit of sadness/nostalgia.

and in case i wasn’t sure of it earlier, jaime is a certified nutcase.  i can tell you that she lives up to her name, and yes, you will really have more fun.

New York, baby!

Thursday, July 10, 2008

big apple, here i come!

it never seemed like a big deal to go to new york. it was four hours from boston and four hours from DC - either way, a $7 ride on the chinatown bus. but suddenly now that i’m living in the corner of our known universe surrounded by strip malls, single story cottages and a maze of highways, nyc is looking like the ultimate metropolis getaway.

i was really hoping to be in rwanda right now, working along side a friend to put out a book commemorating the 15-year anniversary of the genocide. alas, fundage has not made itself available. with dreams of africa dashed, i found myself with two weddingless weekends in a row and a whole bucket full of stir crazy. so i cashed in the few frequent miles i have and forked over the $5 required to purchase the ticket.. and off i go! one of my bestest friends in the whole world is back stateside for a few more days, so I’m going to see her and catch up with a few more old friends. i’m going to eat thai food. i’m going to walk the city streets and breathe in the fresh exhaust air. i’m going to play pinball and galaga at the divebar down the street from joe’s apartment. of course i shall also have my camera.

for those of you reading this saying.. wait, what about my photos? never fear, the mac will also be making the trip, as is a fistful of netflix DVDs so that the work may continue. after all, i can’t neglect my new friends in deadwood… bullock is pretty freaking hot once you get past the dirt and mustache.
